What’s beyond the doorway?
Ask your class to describe what they think might be behind this door. Could it be a magical kingdom? Or a haunted garden? What would happen if you opened the door?
What’s the story?
Who are all the characters in this picture? Who is in the rocket? Where have the pirates sailed in from and will they survive an attack from the fierce dragon?
How would it feel to be here?
Ask the children to imagine that they are in one of the landscapes shown here. What does it feel like to be all alone in the snowy forest? How would the warm sea water feel, lapping over your toes?
A day in the life
What would it be like to live in this castle, or in the village beyond? Get the children to work in small groups and come up with some interesting characters who might live in a castle like this. What sort of adventures might the characters get up to?
